Who we are

The Archdisciplinary Research Center (ARC) is a nonprofit organization. We are a growing collective of independents and academic scholars who have created and/or work between big picture frameworks that synthesize everything humanity has learned about ourselves, the world, and the universe, and we apply that knowledge for greater good.

What we do

Our mission is to advocate for and support individuals, groups, and institutions with big picture, theory of everything, transdisciplinary, widely-encompassing unification metatheoretical frameworks and practices. We pursue this endeavor through research, education, community, and agency.

Why we do it

As ancestors of the future, we have to ask what kind of ancestors we want to be. We no longer have the luxury of competition in the face of our local to global challenges. If we don’t cooperate, we all lose. Our species created its own problems, and it’s up to us to solve them.

How we do it

ARC takes a neutral, non-denominational approach to the diversity of big picture frameworks, and partners with those who want to make a better world. We focus more on comparative analysis and joint cooperation, and less on critical analysis. Where critical analysis is warranted, we advocate for constructive criticisms towards helping big picture frameworks become more stable and reliable.

Books

Metamodernism: Or, the Cultural Logic of Cultural Logics

“What is metamodernism? Whether you're new to the topic and looking for a beginner's primer, or a scholar already well-versed in the current discourse, this book will prove essential reading...”

For anyone who's interested having a book you can read in a week that surveys the field of metamodernism in it's many variations and discusses what they all share in common, Brendan Graham Dempsey’s Metamodernism: Or, the Cultural Logic of Cultural Logics elegantly accomplishes this. Pretty sure this is the most comprehensive book on the topic out there.

Foundations of Archdisciplinarity: Advancing beyond the meta

Foundations of Archdisciplinarity introduces Archdisciplinarity as the academic inquiry that treats big picture, transdisciplinary, theory of everything, unification metatheories as units of analysis for comparison and contrast. In this book, we show the evolution of human knowledge through sociocultural stages, articulate scopes and scales of theories and practices from theory to archtheory, and propose universal pattern laws called arches that persist across the most advanced, integrated frameworks in the world.
